My Story

We live in a beautiful part of the world and in a unique location within a forest of trees and close to the coast.  There is a sense of community here that I wish to see fostered with amenities, activities, and adapting to the needs of the residents.

To maintain the investment in our homes and our living standard, there is a balancing act with such things as preserving our social environment, maintaining and upgrading our infrastructure, and adapting to future demands from insurance, environmental regulations, and electric vehicles.  One particular direction seems advisable, looking at ways to place a greater emphasis on renewable resources and on our electrical infrastructure.

I have lived full-time at 172 Del Mesa since 2023 with my wife, Kathy Baker.  We appreciate what we have here and hope to maintain and strengthen what has been created.  In the past, we lived in Pennsylvania for many years and in San Jose before that.  We have three sons living in San Luis Obispo CA, Pittsburgh PA, and Victoria BC.  Now retired, my prior careers were as a university professor, satellite communications engineer, and classroom teacher.  My hobbies have included travel, hiking, playing the viola, tennis, and reading.

While here at DMC, my activities have included co-chairing Sustainable DMC and serving on several committees:  Governing Documents Committee, Communication Committee, and Strategic Planning Committee.  I am a member of Lawn Bowling and frequently use the gym facilities.  It’s a joy to attend Enrichment, parties, and events sponsored for the community.  I appreciate the work that the administration, maintenance, and landscaping staff provide for us.
